FAQ

General Information

What is happening with the Collision Awards?

The Collision Awards are becoming part of the Telly Awards, a global award program founded in 1979 with 47 years of industry experience. Along with partners from Skwigy, STASH, and Animation World Network, they’re centering animation and motion design as a key part of their programming moving forward.

When will this merger take effect?

Collision is now officially part of the Telly Awards. That said, the Winner’s Gallery and Store will remain accessible on the original Collision website.

Why are the Collision Awards merging with the Telly Awards?

The Telly’s honor excellence in video and television across all screens, and animation and motion design work is a large part of what they honor. Collision’s tight knit community reach was a natural alignment for the Telly’s, who are looking to expand their presence in the animation and motion design industry.

Can I still use the Collision Awards logo and “Collision Awards Winner” designation in my marketing materials?

Of course! The Collision Awards remain a respected industry honor that ran for two seasons before becoming part of the Telly Awards.

How should I reference my Collision win on my website/portfolio now?

The Collision Awards remains a respected industry honor – which is why the Tellys have chosen to incorporate them into their program. You are still a Collision Awards winner and are welcome to refer to yourself as one.

Will there be a redirect from the Collision website to Telly, or will the site just disappear?

The website is still up! We’ll be keeping it live to make sure that Winner’s can always access their winning work and order statuettes from the store while supplies last.

What happens to my winners’ gallery listing on the Collision site?

It will still be there! We’re committed to maintaining your win’s history so that you can continue to reference it in your work.

What’s the price difference between Collision and Telly entry fees?

The Telly Awards entry fees this season are $195 for a Single Entry, and $295 for a campaign entry.

What makes Telly Awards a good fit for the Collision community specifically?

The Telly’s honor excellence in video and television across all screens, and animation and motion design work is a large part of what they honor. Collision’s tight knit community reach was a natural alignment for the Telly’s, who are looking to expand their presence in the animation and motion design industry.

Eligibility and Submissions

Will the animation/motion design categories at Telly have the same focus and specialty that Collision provided?

Yes – we’ve added more than 99 categories exclusive to Animation, including opportunities across TV, Film & Shorts,

What categories will be available for submissions that would have previously gone to the Collision Awards?

The majority of categories previously offered at the Collision Awards are available under the new “Animation” section of the Telly Awards, which features distinct areas of animation and motion design work across TV, Film & Shorts, Commercials, and Marketing & Communications.

What is the submission criteria for the Telly Awards compared to the Collision Awards?

You can read about the Telly Awards eligibility criteria here: https://www.tellyawards.com/work/eligibility/

Is there a special discount or offer for past Collision Awards entrants to submit to the Telly Awards?

There is no Collision specific discount, but there is an Early Pricing for all entrants who enter before December 12, 2025.

Judging and Recognition

Will the judging panel for the Telly Awards include judges who previously evaluated Collision Awards?

Yes! All Collision Judges are now members of the Telly Awards Judging Council, an invite-only council of 250+ industry leaders across studios, networks and brands. Members include Greg Ciaccio, VP of Post Production, IMAX, Katie Hinsen, Director of Technology at Marvel Studios, Cristóbal Valenzuela, Co-Founder and CEO, RunwayML, and David E. Cid, Head of Experiential Marketing, Remezcla.

What is the judging criteria for the Telly Awards compared to the judging criteria for the Collision Awards?

Animation specific criteria will remain largely the same. Similar to the Collision Awards, Telly Awards judges score on a rubric. If no work hits the mark in a category, then nothing wins; if more than one piece hits the mark, then multiple pieces can win.

Will my Collision Awards account automatically transfer to the Telly Awards website?

No – you will continue to go to the Collision Awards website in order to login to your account for posterity sake and access to previous wins. If you’d like to enter the Telly Awards, you will need to register and enter via their system.

Who should I contact if I have further questions about the merger?

You can reach out to Lauren Adkins, the Telly Awards Customer Service lead at customerservice@tellyawards.com, or (212) 970-0223.

Can I still order a Collision statuette for my 2023 or 2024 win, or is there a cutoff date?
